A long-time Mississauga classic diner is giving away free burgers and fries tomorrow (May 24) to celebrate their 56th anniversary
Zet’s Restaurant at 6445 Airport Road is offering up the delicious free meal and is likely to be packed all day so time your trip just right.
The restaurant was opened on May 24, 1970 by Spyridon “Spyros” Sventzouris, who was also known as “Pepi.”
After coming to Canada from Greece in 1956, he met his wife Marcella and together they opened Pepi’s on Derry Rd. in May of 1967.
They followed that up with Zet’s Restaurant on Airport Rd and “the rest is history.”
That’s why the restaurant is calling this their 56th anniversary (rather than 53rd) so that it lines up with the opening of the also family-owned Pepi’s on Derry Rd.
“The Zet’s name will continue on through first generation (Ellen and Anna) and second generation (Platon and Athena),” said the restaurant on its Instagram after Sventzouris’ passing in May 2021. “May his legacy live on and may his memory be eternal.”
