A Brampton female will be facing charges after a staff member at a bank in Guelph noticed suspicious behaviour and reported it to the authorities.

On Thursday Jan. 26, at approximately 11:30 a.m. police arrived at a bank located in the south end of the city, where they say a female used a permanent resident card to try and open an account. The staff was not convinced the card was legitimate.

After some observation, police determined the card was fake. Although the female’s photo was visible, the name wasn’t a match.

According to officers, she is currently on bail under the condition to not visit any bank unless accessing an account in her own name.

The 48-year-old Brampton woman, whose name has not been released, is being charged with uttering a forged document and breaching an undertaking.

She is set to appear in a Guelph court on March 7, 2023.
