As youth many dream of living in a candy factory. As young adults, more than a couple have thought about living in a brewery.
This is neither of those, but it was each of them at one time.
Also, 3-280 E 6th Ave. just looks awesome. Can we call it sexy? Can lofts be sexy? Maybe you should decide this.
Built in 1904, the structure was originally the Fell’s Candy Factory (which makes sense, since there’s a sign painted for Fell’s on the side of the building). Over time it became a few other things, including a spell as the Doering & Marstrand Brewery, which is how it’s listed in Vancouver’s heritage register — it’s a class B heritage building.
In 1993 the building was turned into residences.
That heritage, to a certain extent, is on display in this $925,000 bachelor loft. With exposed stone and brick walls, it’s got a serious old-school industrial vibe, while the interior design is 21-st century.
It doesn’t hurt that the setup for these photos is a bit ridiculous, with a Vespa sitting next to an ancient-looking bookcase, a floating staircase of sorts and a fireplace in an odd spot. You could play ‘I Spy’ with some of the decor too, like the dragon rugs, chair (it is a chair, right?) made out of an oddly shaped slice of tree or faux (we’re hoping) bear fur rug.
Frankly, it looks like the set from a film.
